Why does the tower explode?! ^^
The Russian Spetznaz was the first to come up with those spring-loaded knives that are launched from a tube. They are not particularly good knives for inflicting serious wounds but can distract an opponent when shot at his face, allowing the commando to close in and finish off hand to hand.

You guys are noobs. Of course these buldings explode from the inside, arnold could smell where to put the claymores. obviously he smelled the explosives just like when he could smell the baddies in the beginning.
